WELCOME TO CINEMUERTE 2005!
Western Canada's premiere genre festival is back
with more thrilling premieres than ever before, as well as
an exploitation all-nighter that will shake your perception
of the world. Seriously. You'll be crying for your
mommy by the time the festival is over!

FINAL UPDATE! Thank you to all who attended the final year of CineMuerte! It was a fun year, and I was happy to show some of my old favorites on the big screen, like VICE SQUAD and CLASS OF 1984 (Whoever gave VICE SQUAD a ONE on the voting ballots needs to get a clue, for real). And I think for the first time ever, I did not lose thousands of dollars! (Thank you, Buffy). And a big thank you to all my volunteers: Robin, Yannick, Sage, Mariko & BJ, Aliza, Alex D & Alex C, Kelly, Dmidtrui, James and Nick! And of course my evil cohorts Sam & Danielle!

But I imagine the following results are what you've been waiting for:

CINEMUERTE 2005 AUDIENCE AWARDS:

BEST NEW FILM:
1st Place: TROUBLE by Harry Cleven
2nd Place: CALVAIRE by Fabrice du Welz
3rd Place: tie: THE BIRTHDAY by Eugenio Mira and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS by Matthias Dinter

BEST RETRO FILM:
1st Place: CLASS OF 1984 by Mark Lester
2nd Place: THE THING by John Carpenter
3rd Place: SCHOOL OF THE HOLY BEAST by Norifumi Suzuki

BEST CANADIAN FILM:
1st Place: SIGMA by Jesse Heffring
2nd Place: tie: THE ETERNAL PRESENT by Otto Buj and CASUISTRY by Zev Asher

This is Kier-La Janisse, signing off...
